One of our highest priorities is your privacy and the importance in handling your Personal Information correctly.

All staff have read and signed an agreement to protect your confidential information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the Health Records Act (2011).

Why we require your Personal Information

Your Personal Information is used for the primary purpose to provide to you a service, assist in your treatment, used for how we communicate, to settle accounts and for the purpose of debt collectors. This is only used after you have consented to do so and for the assistance in consulting your health status with General Practitioners, Medical Specialists or if requested by law.

In some cases we may need to contact (if applicable) your private health provider to obtain information about your health insurance.

Security and Personal Information

Your Personal information is stored in a manner that reasonably protects it from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

When Personal information is no longer needed for the purpose in which it was obtained, we will take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify your Personal information. We will keep client Personal information for a minimum of 7 years.

Access to your Personal Information

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your personal information we require a completed records release form.

The Northside Dentist does not charge any fee to access your Personal Information.

In order to protect your Personal Information, we may require identification from your prior to releasing the requested information.

Maintaining Quality to your Personal Information

It is essential that any updates to your Personal Information is advised when contacting our Practice. We will take reasonable steps to make sure that your Personal Information is accurate, complete and up to date. If you find the information we have is not up to date or is inaccurate, please advise our staff and we can update your records so we can continue to provide a high standard of service to you.
